    Mr. Simon is currently in his second year of teaching and his second year at Marcus High School.  His responsibilities include direction of the Concert Band and assisting with the Varsity Band.   He also teaches the beginning horn class at Briarhill Middle School.

     Mr. Simon attended Baylor University, in Waco, TX, receiving his bachelor's degree in Music Education.  A horn player, he performed with various ensembles while at Baylor, including the Baylor Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and several chamber ensembles.  He is originally from Austin, TX, where he graduated from Leander High School and was a proud member and Drum Major of the Leander Band.  Mr. Simon was a four-year member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, and served as its conductor for two of those seasons.  As conductor, he was awarded the Jim Jones Leadership Award for outstanding Drum Major in Drum Corps International in 2003.  He has been active as a private instructor, conducting and leadership clinician, and marching band technician for several years.

     Mr. Simon's professional and personal mentors include his mother and father, Kelly and Barry, Amanda Drinkwater, Gene Monterastelli, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, Peter Ferrito, Alan Hanna, Keith Witt, Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Kennan Wylie, and Michael Klesch.
