David Simon is currently in his eleventh year of teaching and his eleventh year at Marcus High School. His responsibilities include direction of the Symphonic and Varsity Bands, the basketball pep band, and assistance with the Marching Band. Mr. Simon’s concert ensembles have consistently earned superior division ratings at the University Interscholastic League’s Concert and Sightreading contest. Mr. Simon assists band students across the Marcus Cluster and administers the student leadership program at Marcus.

Mr. Simon attended Baylor University, in Waco, TX, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Music Education. A horn player, he performed with various ensembles while at Baylor, including the Baylor Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and several chamber ensembles. Originally from Austin, TX, he graduated from Leander High School and was a proud member and drum major of the Leander Band program. Mr. Simon was a four year member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, and served as its conductor for two of those seasons. As conductor, he was awarded the Jim Jones Leadership Award for outstanding Drum Major in Drum Corps International in 2003. He served as a private instructor, conducting and leadership clinician, and marching band technician for several years prior to serving at Marcus.

Mr. Simon is a member of Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association. He resides in Carrollton with his wife, Addie.
