Association is an organization of over 9,000 school music educators
united by common goals.
UIL
The University Interscholastic League was created by The University of Texas at Austin to provide leadership and guidance to the public school debate and athletic teachers. The purpose of the UIL is to organize and properly supervise contests that assist in preparing students for citizenship. It aims to provide healthy, character building, educational activities carried out under rules providing for good sportsmanship and fair play for all participants.
TBA
For the last half-century the members of Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA) have worked diligently to further the cause of instrumental music education in communities throughout the Lone Star State. As a professional service organization, TBA reaches out through its membership to constantly improve the quality of music education in Texas' elementary, middle and high schools, colleges and universities.
Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic
Exists for educational purposes exclusively; to raise the standards of music education; ...to develop new teaching techniques; to disseminate to school music teachers, directors, supervisors, and others interested in music education information to assist in their professional work; ... to hold clinics, lectures, and demonstrations for the betterment of music education; and in general, to assist teachers and others interested in music education in better pursuing their profession.
President's Own Marine Band
Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band is America’s oldest professional musical organization. “The President’s Own” encompasses the United States Marine Band, Marine Chamber Orchestra, and Marine Chamber Ensembles, and performs regularly at the White House and for more than 500 public performances across the nation each year.
Music for All (MFA)/Bands of America (BOA)
"Music for All" is one of the largest and most influential national music education organizations
in support of active music-making. Music for All is committed to expanding the role of music and
the arts in education, to heightening the public’s appreciation of the value of music and arts education, and to creating a positive environment for the arts through societal change.
Founded in 1975, Bands of America has been making a difference in the lives of young people
for more than a quarter of a century. Bands of America strives to provide QUALITY avenues
for LEARNING and EXCELLENCE in music education for the nation's high school students and directors. Playing to a national audience, BOA's mission is infused with a positive vision that touches lives forever.
Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (GDYO)
The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra was founded in 1972 by parents, educators, and members of the Dallas music community. In 30 years it has grown to include the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and four preparatory orchestras: Philharmonic, Sinfonietta, Dallas String Ensemble and Young Performers Orchestra, as well as a Wind Symphony. The Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra's program offers training to over 360 talented young musicians from age 5 to 18.
